2019: This scene is basically unaltered apart from more traffic and the turret-like building on the corner in the Village Barn development. The old Tithe Barn was converted into residential use in the 1980s. (Photographer: Chris Nichols)
James Gray: The building, partly seen at the left, housed the farm donkey wheel. Looking north to the farm cottages, now in Vale Avenue, in 1932. jgc_35_114
2019: The donkey wheel has long gone as have the farm buildings to the left of the James Gray image. The farm cottages in Vale Avenue remain and are currently very well presented. (Photographer: Clare Hughes)
James Gray: Farm buildings of Court Farm, Patcham in 1890. These stood on the site of the present Vale Avenue, and were removed in the early 1930s when the area was developed for building. jgc_35_121
2019: All the buildings in the image have now gone and there are various houses and bungalows, many of which were built in the 1930s along Vale Avenue. (Photographer: Clare Hughes)
James Gray: This photograph was taken on 20 June 1954, when the fate of the house was undecided. It had been empty since the house and barns, shown overleaf, were taken over by Brighton Corporation. Eventually it was restored and modernised and is now occupied again. jgc_35_128
