HOLLINGDEAN ROAD

Hollingdean Road

Neighbourhood:
Hollingdean
1961
2018

James Gray: 12/26 Hollingdean Road, 4 June 1961. They have since been removed and replaced by a new commercial building. One cannot say when they were built because old Directories did not mention individual houses in the back streets. Originally called Dog Kennel Road, from the kennels of the Brighton Harriers, it first appears in Directories of the 1850s but the roadway is very much older than that. jgc_28_015

2018: Of all the houses shown, only No 12 remains as a residential property although an extra floor has been added to the property. The other buildings have all been converted in a light industrial unit. (Photographer: Ron Fitton)
