James Gray: About 1923 Brighton Corporation nurseries were moved from Lewes Road to Lower Roedale, on part of the old Harrington Farm. They remained until 1960 when they moved again to Stanmer Park. For several years the site was empty and overgrown, but now, in 1968, it is proposed that council dwellings will be built here. If so, the cottage seen here will likely be removed. This was previously two separate cottages occupied by workers on Harrington Farm. Date of photographs – 28 January 1962. jgc_20_113

Just to the immediate right of the flats, in the middle distance, is a glimpse of the back of 124 Stanmer Villas. James Gray: Four photographs of the late 1950s [jgc_20_122 and 124 on the Golf Drive page, jgc_20_123 on Brentwood Road and jgc_20_125 on this page] which show in greater detail some of the buildings which were occupied by the Corporation’s Parks Department. No further comment necessary. jgc_20_125
