James Gray: 10 Boyces Street, photographed in 1947. This surely must be one of the smallest houses existing in Brighton, having a frontage of only a few feet. jgc_08_024.

2019: The school buildings in the original photo were demolished and rebuilt as Middle Street Primary School in 1973. Although the new buildings must offer a lot more in the way of modern conveniences, the shoe box vernacular style of architecture lacks something of the grace of its Edwardian ancestor.
