James Gray: These photographs, of April 1956, show the extensive grounds behind the house. [Boundary House.] On the left are the houses in Osbourne Road, with the old boundary wall running along the ends of their gardens. Boundary House and gardens occupied an area of about 2 acres. Land outside the borough was cheap when the house was built – hence the large garden. The site is now covered by the bungalows of Beacon Close, mostly built during 1957. jgc_20_161 and jgc_20_162
2018: The extensive grounds of Boundary House have now been replaced by new housing forming Beacon Close. This photograph is looking south over what would have been the gardens in the original image. The view is pinpointed by the backs of two houses in Osborne Road. (Photographer: Jane Jordan)
