REDHILL FARM

Wayland Heights

Neighbourhood:
Withdean
1938
2018

James Gray: Cows grazing in the field adjoining Corkscrew Hill, the local name for part of Withdean Road, 28 July 1938. Note the houses of Peacock Lane running up the hill. jgc_26_020

2018: It is impossible to replicate the view today because of the growth of trees and houses. This is from Wayland Heights off Wayland Avenue. Peacock Lane shown in the 1938 photo is roughly behind the edge of the white gable end of the right-hand house obscured by trees.  (Photographer: Hugh Robinson)
