MOULSECOMBE

Southall Avenue

Neighbourhood:
Moulsecoomb and Bevendean
1889
2018

James Gray: The photographer has himself dated this as 1889. The scene is a little further up the hill from the farm buildings shown on the previous page [probably jgc_28_121 on the Queensdown School Road page]. The late Mr. Benjamin Rogers-Tillstone, here shown, was then the owner of Moulsecombe Place, and of the Home Farm to the West. jgc_28_120

2018: With few remaining visual clues I have had to estimate where the original photograph was taken from using the written description – Southall Avenue looking down across The Highway. (Photographer: Ron Fitton)
