James Gray: The recently delicensed public house, the Port Hall Tavern, at the corner of Port Hall Avenue, photographed on 21 October 1973. Its future use is uncertain. jgc_26_075.

2018: After the Port Hall Tavern was delicensed in 1973, the building was converted to use as commercial property with a flat over and renamed Milligan House. The exterior of the building still looks like the pub it once was and is little changed although the ridge cresting has disappeared and two skylights have been added to the lean-to roof. In addition, the street light has been replaced with a more modern and less attractive edition and a plethora of street furniture, including parking signs and a parking meter, has appeared. The ground floor tenant since October 2017 has been It’s Yoga Brighton. (Photographer: Jane Southern)
