Moyne Close

Neighbourhood:
West Blatchington
c 1930
2019

James Gray: Photograph taken from the allotments, now between Holmes Avenue and Elm Drive, looking north-eastwards to Dyke Road. Period about 1930. Points identifiable are Tongdean Farm, Dyke Road, Hove College playing fields, Jackass Field, Blatchington Church and the Windmill. jgc_36_083

2019: This is the view from Moyne Close, looking north-east, with the end-terrace house, No 66, on the left. Behind it, but hidden from view, is Holmes Avenue. To the right, beyond the trees, are the grounds of Mill View Hospital, in Marshall Way. None of the points identifiable in the 1930s image can be seen from here today. (Photographer: Alan Hobden)
