James Gray: At the height of the Self Build development Brighton Corporation agreed to sell some of the large allotment area between Bevendean Road and the Moulsecoomb Valley. This photograph was taken just within the allotments adjoining Bevendean Road, which had already been given up and become overgrown, on 16 October 1960.

The houses of Jevington Drive have since been built here. jgc_27_160
