WEST BLATCHINGTON

Goldstone Way

Neighbourhood:
West Blatchington
1961
2018

James Gray: The land mine fell in a field to the right of this lane. In 1938/9 Goldstone Way was started from Nevill Way and 10 houses were built. Building languished for many years after the war and, on 24 September 1961, the road still had this rural appearance at its far end. In a short time afterwards the scene completely changed, and the area was entirely built over. jgc_36_079

2018: The house on the left is still there behind the rather shabby looking wall, but it is dwarfed by the flats of Balmoral Court in Nevill Road. In the distance, Goldstone Way turns down to the right at its north end to meet Goldstone Crescent. (Photographer: Alan Hobden)
