ROTTINGDEAN

Falmer Road (Rottingdean)

Neighbourhood:
Rottingdean, Ovingdean and Saltdean
1900s
2019

James Gray: The location of these photographs [jgc_32_141 on The Green page and jgc_32_140] is easily recognisable, but the period is unknown. Most probably both date from the 1900s. jgc_32_140

2019: The original image was actually taken along the Falmer Road looking north.

The bottom of Bazehill Road is on the right and Rottingdean Preparatory School was located on the far left. This fine building was demolished in 1964, having been partially destroyed by a fire in late 1962. The Rotyngs Estate now occupies the site.  (Photographer: Ron Fitton)
