ROTTINGDEAN

Dean Court Road

Neighbourhood:
Rottingdean, Ovingdean and Saltdean
1935
2019

James Gray: Dated by the photographer as June 1935. View of Tudor Close Hotel. jgc_32_145

2019: Despite the date 1530 carved into these cottages they were, in fact, converted from the tithe barn of Court Farm and some adjacent cottages by developer Charles Neville not long before the 1930s photograph was taken. Although labelled Tudor Close Hotel in the original photo, Tudor Close and the Tudor Close Hotel were on the other (southern) side of the road and the photo is of Tudor Cottages. (Photographer: Ron Fitton)
