CARLTON COURT

Carlton Court (historic street)

1928
unknown
late1920s

James Gray: This narrow court was lower down Carlton Hill [than jgc_24_103 on the Carlton Row page]. The window is of the little grocer’s shop at 10 Carlton Hill. The court was a dead-end and consisted of 10 three storey flint houses on the west and five smaller ones, hidden from view, on the east. Demolished 1933. jgc_24_104

James Gray: Carlton Court, which stood almost at the foot of Carlton Hill, where the Wholesale Vegetable Market is now. Demolished in 1933. jgc_24_105

James Gray: Here is a close-up view of some of the old flint houses on the west side of this court, seen in the photograph on the previous page [see jgc_24_105 above]. By the dress of the children it was probably taken at the same period, the late 1920s. Demolished 1933. jgc_24_110
