James Gray: A view down narrow Cannon Lane, about 1960. At one time it may have led to the rear of the magazine and living quarters of the men in charge of the West Battery (1793-1858). In later days used as stables and garages. Cleared away 1963-64. jgc_29_167

James Gray: Originally a mews consisting of stables for the horses in Cannon Place. Cleared away during 1963-64, as part of the West Street redevelopment. jgc_29_169

2018: Tiny Cannon Lane ran south from Russell Road (named Regency Road today) toward the Grand Hotel. It now lies beneath the Chartwell Court high rise block. (Photographer: Suzanne Hinton)
