PATCHAM VICARAGE

Ashley Close

Neighbourhood:
Patcham

James Gray: These photographs (jgc_35_149, jgc_35_150 and jgc_35_151) of the Vicarage were taken in May 1969, soon after it was announced that the house was to be demolished. This and the following one (jgc_35_150) show the sunny southern aspect of the house and a sight of All Saints Church. At the right can just be seen the gateway giving access to the Churchyard. The low white building on the left is the new Church Hall (see jgc_35_153 and 154 below). jgc_35_149

2019: The Patcham Vicarage was demolished in early 1970. The new photo is taken from Ashley Close which was built on the site of the old vicarage.  It is west of the church and accessed via Church Hill. The Church is still clearly seen in the left background of the picture. (Photographer: Chris Nichols)

James Gray: Three photographs of the Vicarage Garden in May 1969. The old Vicarage with one and a half acres of garden were sold for redevelopment for £21500 and a few superior detached houses will be built on this site. A new Vicarage and Church Room have already been built. Many of the trees in the garden have to be preserved. The house was demolished and the site cleared during January and February 1970. jgc_35_152, 153 and 154
