ALDRINGTON BASIN AND THE HARBOUR

Portslade and Southwick Seafront: Images of the Seafront

Neighbourhood:
Portslade and Southwick
c1860
1870s

James Gray: In marked contrast to the previous photograph [see jgc_38_058 on the Shoreham Harbour page], this small indistinct photograph of sailing ships in almost the same location, was printed from a waxed paper negative, dating from about 1860, before even the old Gas Works of 1870 were built. jgc_38_059

James Gray: This one was taken much further to the west [than jgc_15_064 on the Hove Seafront (1) page], not far from the Harbour mouth. At a guess, I should say these date from the 1870s. Additional Information: Boys and dinghy. jgc_15_065
