James Gray: Three of the original six streets of Cliftonville, taken in 1905, when they were about 50 years old. Two of them, Hova and Ventnor Villas, were probably different from this when they were built in the 1850s, except for the trees. jgc_13_138
2018: The streets are largely unchanged although the trees have gone and traffic is now one-way only – south, towards the camera.

2018: James Gray marked his 1910 photograph “Hove Hospital Parade” and it was taken on 21 August, the date of the enormously popular annual parade of Friendly and Trade Societies, brass bands, boy scouts and scores of other local groups to raise funds for medical charities.
