James Gray: The derelict site of Bates Nursery, Lewes Road, opposite the South Moulsecoomb estate. On the cleared area were subsequently built 308 flats. Date of photographs 19 February 1951. jgc_28_150

2018: The estate is fully developed now. It runs north from the University of Brighton along the west side of the Lewes Road and finishes opposite Moulsecoomb Way. Westwards it stretches as far back as the railway line. (Photographer: Ron Fitton)
